I close with a final nod to that fine fellow who a few weeks ago, soon after I got my senior’s card for Metro, told me that I couldn’t possibly be 65 years old. Now that’s what I call customer service!

About 15 years ago, there was a guy who drove the 7 who would occassionally do a standup (or "sitdown" in this case) comedy routine over the PA of the bus. Everyone got a huge kick out of it.

"If public transportation is to succeed and get automobiles off the road..."

Once public officials and journalists disabuse themselves of this silly notion, maybe we'll make some progress in solving our region's transportation problems.

Bank tellers and salespeople want your business because their jobs depend on it. Metro bus drivers have government job security and don't need to care on customer satisfaction. Good customer service is incompatible with public sector employment.
