Survey suggests Adam Smith could have election trouble

The 9th Congressional District representative is barely leading his Republican challenger, according to a poll KING 5 released.

On Monday, KING 5 released another new SurveyUSA poll showing another Democratic U.S. House seat is in play.  SurveyUSA shows Adam Smith barely leading Pierce County Councilman Dick Muri, 49 percent to 46 percent in the 9th Congressional District.

This poll is significant because it confirms there is still a Republican tide running in Washington state, despite the recent poll results in the Rossi-Murray Senate race.

The Muri campaign has not done any significant amount of advertising. There is no reason for this race to be close other than the generic erosion of the Democratic vote.  Half of the 9th CD is in King County.  The 9th is a lean-Democratic district.

If Dick Muri is surging, all Republicans are surging. Or at least should be surging. This poll is also further evidence that the polls in the Senate race are reflecting specific factors in that race, namely the differing ad strategies.

The wave is still there. Can Dino Ross get back on his surf board?
