GiveBIG lets you help CrosscutBIG

The Seattle Foundation's GiveBIG day is today, expiring at midnight. It's a great way to help Crosscut's mission of producing quality journalism, and your gift is matched by a special fund. We have $3,000 to go to meet our goal of doubling last year's amount.

The Seattle Foundation's GiveBIG day is today, expiring at midnight. It's a great way to help Crosscut's mission of producing quality journalism, and your gift is matched by a special fund. We have $3,000 to go to meet our goal of doubling last year's amount.

Crosscut is participating in GiveBIG, an inspiring event that will boost the impact of your gift and help Crosscut to do its good work. Here's the link to the Crosscut part of the GiveBIG campaign, where you can make your tax-deductible donation to help Crosscut.com. This campaign is one day only, and that day is Wednesday, May 2, from midnight to midnight. Crosscut is only $3,000 short of its goal of doubling last year's amount. Please give a boost to this fine community cause.

GiveBIG is a community-wide day of giving hosted by The Seattle Foundation that will increase the size of your donation to us. Last year during GiveBIG, $4.1 million was raised (in one day!) to support more than 900 non-profit organizations in our community.

If you missed out on starting or renewing your annual Crosscut membership in our recent spring campaign, May 2 would be a great time to do so. And if you are already a faithful Crosscut member, an additional gift is greatly appreciated. The more money contributed to Crosscut on this day, the bigger the match from The Seattle Foundation will be, so please be generous.

Crosscut depends on Member contributions for a significant part of its annual budget. These gifts sustain our operations and enable us to expand coverage to new areas. You can see some of the results of this support just this week in our new design and other technical enhancements. Crosscut just celebrated its fifth birthday and is one of the nation's pioneers in this new form of nonprofit, nonpartisan, thoughtful, local journalism. Such sites are taking up the slack as mainstream media scale back. Our model is membership-driven and locally controlled. We have big plans for expansion, but they will need your help to realize them.

The Seattle Foundation and local businesses will match a share of every contribution made to Crosscut through The Seattle Foundation’s online Giving CenterAlso, all day long on May 2, you could be chosen at random to have Crosscut receive an additional $1,000 from GiveBIG’s sponsors. The selected donor is eligible to win a Starbucks gift card for $100.

Please help make today a BIG day for Crosscut and for many other worthy nonprofits in our region. And a BIG thanks to Seattle Foundation for this program!
