NOTE: Today is the final day of Crosscut’s fall membership drive. We’ve made great progress, but remain short of our goal. If you read Crosscut and appreciate our efforts to cover the political and cultural life of the Northwest, will you make a contribution at any level you feel is appropriate? Thank you.

When you read a great story by one of our writers, know that your membership funded the reporting, writing, editing, publishing, website upkeep and outreach that made it possible.
I hear from many of you throughout the year. You are smart, engaged and very passionate about civic affairs. You have told us that Crosscut stories are among the top stories that influence and inform your daily life. Every dollar you donate funds the reporting, analysis and writing you enjoy.
A few weeks ago, I spent a very pleasant afternoon with Crosscut member Howard Baldwin and his wife, Monica Delzeit. Howard and Monica contributed $250 to Crosscut during this fall campaign, and won tickets to sit in the owner’s box at a Seattle Mariners game. The season was all but over for the lackluster M’s, so we had plenty of time to get to know one another and discuss the state of journalism.
Howard was a Seattle journalist who now writes for Forbes in the San Francisco Bay Area. Like you, Howard sees Crosscut as an excellent source for staying abreast of news, trends and analysis in the Northwest. And, like you, Howard wishes there was more: more stories, more space devoted to long-form journalistic analysis, a broader geographical reach.
You support impactful writing that reveals and strengthens the civic and cultural life of this region. Your gift produces thoughtful stories on issues you’ve told us you care about. Crosscut needs your support to write the stories that matter to you the most.
That is the ambition of this fall’s campaign. We need you to join us in revealing and strengthening the civic and cultural life of this region through quality journalism.
