Inslee getting in is about 95%+, he has really all but announced. Sonntag will come under huge pressure not to run for Governor.

On the continued struggle to keep down skyrocketing health care costs, salaries/bonuses are an even bigger issue. Susannah Frame/King5 did a great job of highlighting the problem at a local public hospital district: http://www.king5.com/home/valley-medical-center-122473009.html

The reason that Australia/Canada have largely missed this recession is that they remain primarily natural resource extracting economies. Many natural resources are at or near record highs and both of these countries are now highly tied to exporting to China. Iron ore and coal to China is a huge economic ...

The comment above that Russell leaving Tacoma would allow for other -- smaller -- companies to move in and use the space that Russell leaves vacant, really doesn't work. Tacoma certainly doesn't lack for vacant office space downtown right now. Small/medium sized employers are clearly needed, but a few anchors ...

It is just sad that the outlook seems so bad for the Times. We'd be a much poorer region without the Times - but there is such a drumbeat of bad news for them, would think the mid-term outlook for that institution is grim at best. Today's paper is awfully ...

Chris - don't agree with you on this one. Most aspects of local government are not of a partisan nature. We'll be better off if partisanship is muted, not blared. Going to non-partisan offices is a step in the right direction, even if vestiges of partisanship remain. On the KC ...

Stuart -- where is the logic of saying there were no signficant # of Obama/Rossi voters? There wasn't much fall-off of voters between President and Governor. Gregoire underperformed Obama by about 4.5% That difference pretty much has to be voters who voted for both Obama & Rossi. 4.5% isn't an ...
