Karen Symms Gallagher

Bio:
Once an urban underserved youth, Karen Symms Gallagher is now Dean of the USC Rossier School of
Education, a top-ranked School of Education in the nation, leading the team that
created the first online Masters in Teaching, MAT@USC. This fall, she led the team that opened the
innovative Hybrid High School charter school, part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school
uses classroom and online learning to greatly expand the school day and week, teaching students when
they are available to learn as part of an effort curb dropouts.
