Yeah, Ted ... ask a certain star investigative reporter at the P-I whether he's best known for his work at the Times (where he won two Pulitzers) or at the P-I.

Richards continues his crusade against the Times. Whatever happens -- including Hearst's obvious abandonment of the P-I -- Crosscut will find a way to turn it into a negative for the Times. Nearly every other informed observer sees this otherwise.

Big mistakes here, as usual, Bill: The Times never "promised" the severance to the laid-off union workers; it said it would pay generous severance, above and beyond the contract, if the Guild would agree not to pursue legal actions related to the layoffs. The union declined, so the company paid ...

Rat City, You obviously don't understand the way the JOA works. Both companies are losing money on the deal. And the P-I reduced their paper to three sections today, too. Their circulation is barely above 100K now.

Lousy, biased job: I couldn't disagree more with the commenter above. From what I hear from Times folks -- including some in position to know -- Richards' Crosscut stories are rife with errors. And he so clearly has an axe to grind. If not, where are the stories about Hearst ...
