...it's the ritornello of gastrointestinal fortitude followed by the clutch-the-door-handle credenza and the breath-slowly soliloquy. Edson is thrilled. "Pretty cool, huh," he says. I think you mean cadenza. Soliloquy isn't musical either, but it's closer to the metaphor than a piece of furniture.
