What am I missing?: I don't quite see this. A good writer, sure, but what about him fills you with "awe"? His review in this case says, as usual, pretty much the same thing most other reviews do.

RE: Bitch-slap: Living langauge has blood and guts. No real writer would restrict himself to words that have been signed off by some community standards committee as "okay." "Bitch slap" has a powerful, nasty edge to it. And that can be just what you need sometimes.
