Income-tax opposition on message, and on track

Posted Sat, Oct 23, 10:53 a.m.

The simple fact that taxing only the top tier wealthiest in Washington would constitute the largest ever tax increase says it all: Wealth has become too concentrated. An income tax, however imperfect, is a step to making our system a little bit more fair.

'The Lancet' critique of the Gates Foundation: on the mark?

Posted Tue, May 19, 9:36 p.m.

Mr. Fortner, you have muddled the issue. Perhaps it is in your interest, since you are writing a book celebrating the scientific interests of Bill Gates, to defend the worthiness of the efforts of the Gates Foundation. That’s not really necessary, nor is it the issue raised by the Lancet ...

Who lost the big asbestos case in Libby?

Joan, don't strain yourself patting yourself on the back with this re-hash. You claim the only "consistent" reporting on the Libby asbestos scandal has been done by New West -- your publication? Sorry, but the Seattle Post Intelligencer started covering this 10 years ago and kept on the story until ...

The P-I: Saying goodbye to a liberal voice

The reason the PI failed is because newspapers have no business model anymore. Simple as that. But thanks Crosscut for allowing Mr. Chapman to engage in crocodile tears -- insulting and praising simultaneously. I would prefer he just stick to his regular Discovery Institute drivel promoting the anti-scientific fraud known ...

So this must be an example of the brave new media world of Crosscut -- posting the incisive thoughts of one Scott St. Clair, who calls himself a "writer and activist" and "investigative journalist." Do a bit of investigation yourself, Crosscut. The guy looks more like a character from "The ...
