Two boffo new works at Pacific Northwest Ballet

Posted Mon, Mar 19, 2:22 p.m.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Friday evening performance, especially A Million Kisses. One observation I made, though, regarding Mating Theory: I thought the women did not look as comfortable as the men in that genre of dancing...they couldn't seem to quite get over their ballet training and into a modern mode. ...

New dance proves that even MacArthur 'Geniuses' need some editing

Posted Thu, Feb 9, 7 p.m.

The distraction of all those bare breasts moving around was really annoying...I felt it distracted from all the other distractions. And while I understood why Shen Wei was doing this, it really seemed a bit much: even when all the dancers were in full, but torn, body stockings, the women ...

Meet the producer: Will Amazon dominate book publishing, too?

Thanks for a very interesting discussion of this issue. I am not an e-reader but do play the field in where/how I buy my books, depending on a variety of circumstances. The publishing issue requires that all of us think seriously about this topic.

Naming Pioneer Square's alleys

Posted Mon, Dec 12, 7:22 p.m.

I like the naming convention used in Melbourne, Australia for alleys. They call them "little" street name; e.g. the alley off King would be called Little King; or Little Yesler; or Little Occidental. That way the visitor knows roughly where to find the place. These "little" streets in Melbourne are ...

Madison Park: If fences make good neighbors, what happens when you take one down?

It is difficult to find many of the street ends/beaches/pocket parks along Lake Washington as the entitled neighbours try to create plant barriers so that us non-residents are discouraged from venturing down what, at first glance, appear to be driveways. And, while McGilvra Elementary is a public school, over the ...

I agree with Ms. Kaderlan about the Balanchine piece. The other quibble I had was regarding The Sleeping Beauty portion. I felt as though we were gate-crashing someone else's show: it seemed strange to come into such lush scenery that was obviously part of a larger work and having all ...

Clearing up a Mastodon mystery?

This information is so interesting and exciting. My father, physical anthropologist and anatomist, specialised in finding/studying ancient humans of around 150,000 years ago. He always felt that early humans would be found in North America: in particular, he thought the Wisconsin Dells would be a good place to start looking!
