Mr. Tooley was right when saying electing Mayor McGinn was like electing a candidate from the Green Party versus a Democrat. Being a left leaning moderate in King County is beginning to feel more and more like being a Republican the way any one other than someone on the far ...

Chris, I'm an Independent that voted for Hutchinson based on her being fiscally conservative. Dow Constantine was literally the LAST person I wanted to win KCExec. There were some eastside Dem's who would have done a good job as well. When is the Republican party in this state going to ...

Great perspective by Brewster. Especially on the personality/mingling issue. Faults and all- Nickels has a passion for the city, worked hard and was not corrupted. I think we'll miss him more that we care to admit.

I agree that Ted Van Dyk is so anti-Nickels he's not credible to speak on any issue about him any more. Mr. Van Dyk- you my friend are NOT UNBIASED. Thank your for this article on Mayor Nickels. I am frightened to see what a grown up 60's Sierra Club ...

It really doesn't matter how much this stuff costs anymore. Mercer has to be fixed and the Viaduct has to come down and *should be replaced with a tunnel. Any more discussion/voting etc. deciding, un-deciding just makes everything more expensive in the end. Not fixing Mercer and the Viaduct are ...

Interesting piece. Let's just hope he makes it past the primaries. If not, I think that there is going to be a big dose of "buyers remorse" in picking between McGinn and Mallahan. Both are not at all qualified. McGinn's idea's are loony left and Mallahan is all corporate america. ...

What exactly does NOAA contribute to the taxpayers of Seattle beyond some ship repair services? I'm not sure why I should be upset about this. As such, at this point, I'm not.

Thanks for this article.

Interesting. You are so consistantly raving maniac anti-Nickels, you are almost not credible anymore. Why is 4 more years of Nickels unthinkable? There is not a candidate out there w/ a vision for the city they are selling. They are all different flavors of anyone but Nickels. Then you go ...

Great piece. I loved the humor about all of the candidates. Now, what exactly don't you like about Nickels or are you just piling on? The snow storm response story is "tired." So what? Worst storm in 30 years and our response needs to improve. Check. End of story. Would ...

The problem with King County Executive is not if they are insiders or outsiders in politics. I agree, nothing wrong w/ insiders that know how to get things done with a record of being a change agent or speaking up and taking issue w/ wrong minded policies. (not being too ...

I loved the humor in this article. While I continue to be a strong supporter of Mayor Nickels, I am not a supporter of the bag tax.

I have to say that at this point, I'm voting for Nickels again. I'm not unhappy with how he's run the city for the last 8 years. City core, vibrant, light rail etc. I don't really care that much about the green city thing but a lot of people do ...

Where Starbucks lost it's way. Can you say VIA? It's version of Folger's crystals? Or that it's trying to squeeze out local vendors for it's pastries and go to frozen? Or that Howard (Sonics Seller) Schultz was quoted as saying "those folks at McDonald have some pretty good ideas." Starbucks ...

This is a tremendous article on so many levels John. May Mrs. Craswell rest in piece. Yes, to this day, the Republican Party in this state is still haunted by the Craswell reputation and you as a candidate were squarely in her wake those years ago. Why doesn't the Republican ...

Good article. Hutchinson may win as a "protest vote." Hunter and Jarret are speaking a similar message and are better qualified but seem to have problems raising money and getting their message out. Further, the Democratic machine based in Seattle, are loyal to Phillips and Constantine- the part of the ...

Chris, You are accurate that the average voter has NO Idea what exactly the King County Council and Executive actually do. Thank you for the article and disclosure. Great conversation here. At this point, Jarrett and Hunter are attractive choices. Fiscally conservative but not socially out of touch w/ voters. ...

Tunnel, tunnel, tunnel. It will literally transform the city in a GREAT way for generations to come. Gregoire and her cheap-out replacement of the viaduct- lame. Let's get it started. Good for Nickels to stick to his guns when no one else would. The state Senators/Congresspeople elected to represent Seattle ...

Don't be haters. Seriously. Try talking about the snow some more. Worst snow we've seen in 30 years and this is what you've got? Or, maybe his weight. Have all of you looked in the mirror? Looked at most Seattlelites? Yeah, that's what I thought. So he's a strong manager. ...
