Racial profiling on Washington’s northern border?

Posted Thu, Apr 26, 10:21 p.m.

Hey, someone tell the Jews and El Al airlines that profiling is bad and doesn't work. Oh, right, it does work.

Just say no to media fear mongering, Capitol Hill

Posted Wed, Apr 18, 1:35 p.m.

This article is crap. Having lived in the u-district since 1998, most of the unique character has been stripped away to be replaced with boring mixed use architecture. As above commenter stated...exciting as a Red Lobster. The lack of character makes me sad.

State's newest ferries are proving pricey

Posted Thu, Jan 26, 8:19 a.m.

So we get three boats that are aesthetically displeasing, difficult to load, overpowered and inefficient, vastly overpriced, and the ferry system is broke. All of the above to satisfy state requirements that are essentially union giveaways. Who here would spend their own money in such fashion, or a pool of ...

Prescription for abuse: difficulties for reform efforts

Posted Tue, Jan 24, 7:59 a.m.

On the street instant release painkillers (perc, OC variant) sell generally for .50 cents to 1$/mg, coming in at a whopping ~ $14000 to $29000 per oz. Compare that to gold. The incentive to sell is too high to control. Many or probably most pills come from out of state ...

Hi, my name is Washington, and I have a revenue problem

Posted Tue, Jan 17, 8:45 a.m.

The rough road to a safer 3rd Avenue

Posted Sat, Jan 7, 4:52 p.m.

Clean out the human detritus Giulani style. It is unfortunate that we allow the 0.01% to threaten, menace, and spoil the heart of the city for everyone else. A sad commentary on undeserved tolerance.

Seattle's car-tabs measure: no sale

Posted Tue, Sep 20, 8:04 p.m.

The tax is extremely regressive. My wife has a 1986 car, and I have a 2002 motorcycle (nothing fancy, 50mpg) that I use to commute to work, year round. She lost her job last January, and no luck so far. Indeed, we are to pay $120/yr for the sin of ...

Red ink, red ink everywhere

In all seriousness, the military budget can absorb large cuts. Do we really need a sub orbital, radar blank, carbon fiber rocket to deliver a bomb anywhere in the world in 1 hour? Sorry, I had to google the name because the project is so wasteful: Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle ...

Voting no on alcohol measures is good policy

Posted Wed, Oct 27, 1:44 p.m.

I agree with normfox, especially about morose, dead in the eyes employees. If you have a job at least pretend to like it, or get a new one. Initiatives such as I-1100 occur due to the legislatures extreme inability to act; the state has had years to come up with ...

Why Sen. Murray will breeze to a victory

Posted Thu, Aug 19, 5:02 p.m.

Looking at the total vote numbers, if all of the Dider voters switch to Rossi, the race is quite close. I do not think it will be a breeze.
