Enough. A Panel Tackling Sexism & Online Harassment

August 10, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

| Free
SWC August 2016 Event (16)

Join Crosscut and Seattle Women’s Commission for a panel discussion about Sexism and Online Harassment in Seattle. The idea came after Seattle’s female City Councilmembers faced extreme gender-based harassment due to their vote on a proposed Sonics arena site in SoDo. Why are Seattle’s women still facing these issues today? Panelists include City Councilmembers Lisa Herbold, Debora Juarez and Sally Bagshaw, and more. The discussion will be moderated by Crosscut Executive Director Tamara Power-Drutis. Then, the Seattlish.com women will facilitate an open story slam — they’ll share their stories and you can share yours!

6:00-6:30pm: Cocktail Hour and Curated Story Sharing featuring: Heidi Groover and Sydney Brownstone, political reporters at The Stranger, Natalia Koss Vallejo, NARAL Pro-Choice organizer

6:30-7:15pm: Panel Conversation featuring City Councilmembers Lisa Herbold, Debora Juarez, and Sally Bagshaw, former City Council Candidate Brianna Thomas and Public Policy Coordinator for the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence Tamaso Johnson facilitated by Crosscut Executive Director Tamara Power-Drutis.

7:15-8:00pm: Special guests Seattlish will facilitate an open story slam where they share their experiences and invite you to share yours!

Please join us to help send a message that gender based harassment, threats and violence have no place in public discourse, sports or anywhere else for that matter. This event is free and open to the public. Please share.

No host bar. Appetizers generously supported by our sponsors.
