Did Seattle 'lose' a space shuttle 25 years ago?

Posted Wed, Apr 13, 8:01 a.m.

The Museum of Flight didn't even make the top 5 museums according to this article. http://www.middletownjournal.com/news/middletown-news/dayton-wont-get-space-shuttle-1134181.html Here's where all the shuttle artifacts will go. http://www.nasa.gov/topics/shuttle_station/features/shuttle_homes.html I don't understand the New York bid. Especially considering what happened a couple years ago to a rare plane and how it was damaged. http://articles.nydailynews.com/2008-07-14/local/17901243_1_british-airways-retired-concorde-plane ...

How does your Valley grow?

Nice article Knute. Just wanted to help clarify something. The term "Silicon Forest" has usually always meant the high tech region around Portland Oregon, not Seattle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_Forest Seattle has never really had a proper nickname for it's high tech cluster of companies that's stuck over time.

Thank you for writing this detailed recap. I hope there's a lively discussion about this topic. Here's a few notes to add. 1. Sports teams. We've actually lost more then 1. A. Besides the Sonics, we had the women's professional basketball team Seattle Reign go into bankruptcy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Reign B. The ...

I hope that when the convention center plans, it plans BIG for the expansion. The property inside the trapazoid of 9th Ave., Boren Ave., Pine St., & Howell St. It'd be great if besides the above area, the whole block inside 8th Ave., 9th Ave., Pine St., and Olive St ...

New tax for KeyArena? A big maybe

Posted Thu, Oct 30, 9:30 a.m.

I'm arm chairing here a bit, but I just wish that we could return Key Arena to it's roots. Turn it into another mini convention center that would "compliment" the WSCTC. I just don't see why we have to keep using the Key Arena if we wish to pursue professional ...

The Olympics, Seattle-style

Past Bid & Event: Mr. Brewster. Was there really any infrastructure that was built for the 1990 Goodwill Games in Seattle? The only one that comes to mind is the Federal Way Aquatics Center. As for Vancouver & Seattle jointly bidding for either an Olympics, World Cup, or Worlds Fair ...

Why the label of Drew Carey?: Knute, I don't understand the point of this line in your piece. "Our civic sports hopes are pinned to a changing of the guard with the Seahawks and a new professional soccer franchise partly owned by right-wing gameshow host Drew Carey." What has Drew ...

How about a nuclear museum on the UW campus?

Posted Sun, Apr 27, 11:34 a.m.

Nuclear Museums: I love the idea of preserving the structure as a museum. It's interesting to note that there's two proposals in Washington State to turn former nuclear facilities into museums/monuments(UW & Hanford). Here's some other nuclear museums/organizations to look at as examples. American Museum of Science & Energy American ...

RE: Unfortunately Outdated: I just don't understand why people are choosing not to see the difference between the Zeum and the Pacific Science Center. Sigh... Oh well I cannot disagree more about Naval Armory Building at S.L.U.P. being the future home of MOHAI. The maritime community as a whole needs ...

A heartening tale: the comeback of the Seattle Aquarium
