If it ain't broke, don't tear it down and build condos

Posted Wed, Apr 25, 4:10 p.m.

When a megaquake hits Seattle, an inevitability, what will happen to all of these "historic" buildings? Many will crumble and small businesses like Bauhaus will need find a new home...probably in one of the newer buildings built with some seismic protections. They might even enjoy lower utility bills in these ...

McGinn warns of Seattle impacts if Bellingham coal terminal is built

McGinn's attempt to make this a Seattle issue is bogus! The real impacts will be felt in suburbs and exurbs where many of the crossings are at-grade. Take Marysville and Tulalip for example. The BNSF line runs the almost the length of the city and separates "main" street from I-5 ...

Are tolls the new income tax?

No tolls, fine. Index the gas tax to inflation. The base gas tax (excluding the recent project-specific nickel and TPA packages) has not been raised since 1991. We are currently asking government to sustain our transportation system with the same pot of money we had in 1991 only the revenue ...

How Sound Transit could build a promised station for SE Seattle

Gregoire's opposition to waterfront 'social engineering' contradicts history

America is one giant social engineering experiment for industry, yet we think many of the conclusions we come to are natural. Our eternal pessimism for government requires us to scoff whenever government attempts anything similar.
