Did anyone actually take the dinner train? I did, once, for a story. It was a more delightful experience than I could have imagined, running on a rail line that provided a new and terrifically lovely view of Lake Washington, en route to Woodinville. The food was good, too. For a touristy-type excursion, I gave it three and a half choo-choos. But it's all over now. The Associated Press reports after less than three months, a planned 10-month experiment with a dinner train transplanted from Renton to Tacoma has ended with the shutdown of Spirit of Washington Dinner Train service. The Seattle Times has the story, and be sure to check out their home page picture. It's a file photo, and makes it look like the train stopped right in its tracks and made everyone walk home.
