The Googie primary

Ahead of the Feb. 20 Seattle Landmarks Board caucus that will determine the fate of the Ballard Manning's/Denny's Googie-style diner, KCTS-TV (9) is running a poll on whether or not the structure should be saved. It's not scientific, of course, just one of those Internet free-for-alls, but if you want to have your say, vote here. You only have this week to vote, and the results have been flipping back and forth between the "save its" and the "tear it downs."

The final results, which will have no actual bearing on the Landmark Board's decision, will be announced on KCTS Connects this Friday. Also Friday, Feb. 15, the Seattle Channel will air a show on historic preservation and the landmarks process in Seattle with a panel of guests (including Mossback) on various sides of the issue. It'll be on City Inside/Out at 7 p.m. (and rebroadcast at various times thereafter in the Seattle Channel rotation), and hosted by Crosscut contributor C.R. Douglas.
