Sweet Home, Soviet Union

After the 43rd District Democratic caucus on Saturday, I wondered at the choice of the exit music: "Sweet Home, Alabama," a great Southern rock song, but notoriously controversial for what some people suggest is a defense of George Wallace and a dismissal of Watergate. But time has a way of morphing culture and politics in unexpected directions--or maybe it's the influence of Chernobyl. A friend sent this along: a version of the song sung by--and no kidding here--a Finnish rock band called the Leningrad Cowboys and the Red Army Choir (of evil empire fame) performing in Russia. Unbelievable.

But time has a way of morphing culture and politics in unexpected directions — or maybe it's the influence of Chernobyl. A friend sent this along: a version of the song sung by — and no kidding here — a Finnish rock band called the Leningrad Cowboys and the Red Army Choir (of evil empire fame) performing in Russia. Unbelievable. Also one quick update on the caucus: Mossback was elected as a delegate to the congressional district caucus and state convention in Spokane along with 66 other Obama and Clinton supporters. You can view the list here to see if anyone else you know made the cut.
