Remember yesterday's veep buzz about Sen. Patty Murray? Well, the News Tribune reports that she is the official queen of earmarks in Washington state, which doesn't necessarily bode well for anyone running against anti-earmark candidate John McCain.

After yesterday's expected announcement of Mayor Greg Nickels' intent to ban concealed weapons on city property, here are the reactions from the Web. It isn't pretty:

Erica C. Barnett at Slog, The Stranger's blog, says the ban isn't the real issue. ...

Pudge at Sound Politics says Nickels should resign. ...

And KIRO-AM host Dori Monson says the ban is "just the latest in a long list of freedoms that are disappearing." Here's his laundry list. ...

Nickels, however, says the ban is necessary to keep the kids safe. ...
