Thanks to those of you who made a donation, Crosscut surpassed its financial goal for the spring 2013 membership drive. For the first time, our members number more than 900. We set some other records as well, more than doubling the number of new members from last year’s spring campaign.

We also reached nearly 90 percent of our member goal: 412 new or renewing members by 4/12. It was Crosscut's most ambitious to date and you responded wonderfully.

If you've been meaning to make a donation, there is still time and matching dollars are still available to make your gift go even further. I will keep the drive open until mid-week.

I’d also like to thank Bill Gates, Sr., Knute Berger, Judy Lightfoot, Sam Verhovek, John Stanton, Ron Sher, Jennifer Rice, Anne Fennessy, Joann Byrd and David Brewster for their writing about the value of Crosscut and written journalism in our region.

It is encouraging to the whole Crosscut team to see the public respond so positively to our request for support.

On behalf of all of us at Crosscut, thank you.
