Photos: Macklemore's 'top secret' Capitol Hill rooftop performance

Thousands of onlookers turned out Wednesday night for the Capitol Hill filming of a Macklemore video. Dick's Drive-in never saw such a crowd.

Rumors began flying Wednesday around Capitol Hill when news that Broadway would be closed for several hours that night surfaced. Could it be that Seattle's favorite hip-hop artist, the one so tied to his city, was planning to film his next video atop the roof of Dick's Burgers? (Sadly) Chief Sealth himself couldn't have organized a more buzzed-about appearance.

And so it was. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took the "stage" around midnight ...

to the tune of about 2,000 screaming fans.

Twitter cleverly dubbed it #macklemob.
