Why Crosscut should cut across our region

With October closing in, we are behind on our goal for this fall's membership drive. Will you help us today?

When I changed residency from downtown Seattle to Issaquah in 2002, I searched long and hard for a source of in-depth news about my new community. I was surprised to learn that there is no Eastside daily newspaper and the weeklies are strained to cover the Eastside’s flourishing growth.

Fortunately, Crosscut sees the Eastside as an important regional story, and is developing plans to add editorial and reporting capacity to cover education, transportation and other critical issues facing east King County communities. If you support regional coverage, join me and become a member today.

Population growth and subsequent land development in Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Newcastle, Mercer Island, Redmond and Sammamish are increasing at a feverish pace. We’re fortunate as a region to be bucking the national trend. Intelligent growth depends on the availability of quality news and information; so, as the Eastside grows, so must Eastside coverage. Crosscut can’t dedicate the editorial resources the Eastside deserves without your financial support.

Crosscut knows no boundaries when arming the citizenry with insights and information that serves the greater good. Please support our mission of covering the Eastside’s fast growing pace of change. Blink and you might miss a policy decision impacting your backyard.
