Matthew Powers is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Washington, where he co-directs the Center for Journalism, Media and Democracy and coordinates the undergraduate program in Journalism and Public Interest Communication. His research explores journalists' careers in France and the United States and their implications for democratic societies.
