How your contribution to The Seattle Foundation's GiveBIG campaign today can improve Crosscut news and ideas.

The Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG Day today is of great significance for Crosscut. We hope you’ll consider logging onto GiveBIG to make a contribution of any size for Crosscut. Your gift will help us qualify for additional funding from The Seattle Foundation.

Why is this important?

Paying writers and editors for their work, funding technology improvements and keeping a small nonprofit operation running costs money. Crosscut raises money throughout the year in order to fund the publishing of quality, independent news and ideas online and on mobile devices. We receive no government funding. We are self-sustaining, which means we rely on donors and a modest amount of advertising.

Crosscut readership is growing and so is our donor base. But we have a long way to go to deliver fully on our mission, which is to reveal and strengthen the civic and cultural life of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. We do this primarily through our online daily magazine (Crosscut.com), convenings like CivicCocktail and digital publishing across multiple platforms.

Your donation to GiveBIG will support:

Editorial expansion – Help us broaden our geographic coverage to include more focus on King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties. GiveBIG donations will fund coverage of politics, urban life, culture and our regional economy.

Technology improvements – Crosscut needs funding to improve our growing mobile audience as well as a website design that is responsive to whatever device you are using to read the news. Readers want more video, infographics and podcasts.

Civic engagement -- Live conversations, built around thoughtful journalism, are an important new focus at Crosscut. Our monthly Civic Cocktail with partners CityClub and the Seattle Channel is an important way to advance civic engagement. As our our other member events. Help us build on these successes.

Please take a few minutes to support Crosscut by making a donation of any size to GiveBIG on The Seattle Foundation's website.

Thank you.
